I’ve eased into this challenge with a Tom Gates by Liz Pichon. Liz Pichon is a really good author and she’s written quite a few books on the fictional character Tom Gates.
It’s an easy, funny, quick book to read and great for Sundays inside. It’s about a boy (Tom Gates) who goes on a school activity trip for three days. He eats (lots of) snacks, makes rafts, climbs walls, kayaks, spots owls and bats, puts up with sharing a cabin with his annoying classmate, stays up late eating midnight feasts and lots more. In my opinion it’s a good book with lots of humor and probably a 7+.
